About Sharcikaab

Somalia's leading legal, policy, and justice consultancy — bridging law and community since our founding.

10+ Years of Excellence
Our Story

Strengthening Institutions.
Empowering Communities.

Sharcikaab is a Somali-led consultancy providing strategic advisory, institutional strengthening, and access-to-justice solutions across Somalia. The name combines the Somali words Sharci (Law) and Kaab (Support/Bridge).

We operate at the intersection of law, public policy, human rights, and responsible technology. In the Somali legal landscape — characterized by a complex blending of secular, Sharia, and Xeer (customary) systems — we act as a vital technical bridge.

Our work fundamentally complements and strengthens the state; we provide the essential documentation, triage, and digital infrastructure that allow formal institutions to function more effectively.

Our Purpose

Vision & Mission

🎯

Our Vision

A Somalia where robust, coordinated, and accountable justice institutions ensure that every individual — regardless of gender, displacement status, or geographic location — possesses the legal agency to understand and exercise their rights.

🚀

Our Mission

To catalyze justice reform and institutional excellence by strengthening Ministries of Justice, fostering inter-governmental policy coordination, innovating through responsible AI, and advancing human rights through evidence-based research and legal aid.

How We Work

The Sharcikaab Hybrid Model

We integrate human expertise with evidence-based digital innovation to deliver maximum impact across Somalia's justice sector.

👥

National Legal Empowerment Network

Licensed lawyers and community paralegals embedded in IDP settlements. Context-sensitive support that navigates complex gatekeeper systems and addresses the distance barrier to justice. Survivor-centered trauma-informed support for GBV victims.

💻

Digital & AI-Enabled Innovation

Technology as augmented intelligence — tools to inform and expedite human decision-making. Digital intake systems improve case triage accuracy, a digital repository of Somali laws improves legal literacy, and all AI processes are subject to human ethical oversight.

🏛

Government Partnership

Technical partner to Federal and FMS Ministries of Justice. Specialized training for ministry personnel, policy coordination between federal and regional justice bodies, and legislative review and drafting support.

📊

Evidence-Based Research

Empirical assessments on community-level dispute resolution, legal trend monitoring, and specialized HLP rights documentation for displaced populations. Data-driven insights that shape real policy decisions.
